Prior to her untimely death in 2007, female dancehall artiste Natasja had done a collaboration single with Beenie Man. Recently a video was done for the single; it features Beenie Man, as well as several popular female Jamaican dancehall deejays including Macka Diamond, Lady G and Spice who lip-sync Natasja's lyrics in the video.
The fourth annual Vintage Reggaefest is coming to New York this week, and reggae shows rarely get this good.
Jamrock magazine is presenting the big show at Hammerstein Ballroom, 311 W. 34th St. in Manhattan, on Saturday.
The lineup for the show includes Cocoa Tea, John Holt, U-Roy, Leroy Sibbles, Sugar Minott, Carlton Livingston, Nadine Sutherland, Brigadier Jerry and Anthony Cruz.

'Made In Jamaica', a feature film chronicling the development of reggae music, will enjoy special billing during the 16th annual African Diaspora Film Festival (ADFF), in New York City in the United States of America, from November 28 to December 16.
The 108-minute feature, which was shot in Jamaica and France by filmmaker Jerome Laperouz, explores reggae's powerful path to worldwide recognition.
THE GRACE TROPICAL Rhythms Port Royal Seafood festival will take place on Sunday, December 7.
Member of Parliament for East Kingston and Port Royal, Phillip Paulwell, said despite the festival being absent for two years, plans have been made for this year's event to be spectacular.
"I am delighted to welcome you here, and also am delighted to have a seafood partner. We did not have the Seafood festival for two years, but this year we are looking for a spectacular treat," said Paulwell, who delivered the welcoming address.

It was a matter of time before a reggae artist took on the challenge of reproducing a cover of Beyonce's "If I were a boy".
Aletha Hewitt has teamed up with the French musicians Bost and Bim for a brand new single, "If I were a boy". The release date is scheduled for the 9th of December 2008.

Barrington Levy Teams With Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes
International superstar Barrington Levy has once again tapped members of Hip-Hop community to assist him as he makes another push for the mainstream spotlight. The Reggae legend has released two versions of the first single from his forthcoming album, one of which features Busta Rhymes and President-elect Barack Obama.
The new track, titled "No War," interpolates an Obama speech with lyrics by Busta Rhymes, Canada's Kardinal Offishall, and of course Levy himself.
The alternate version, which is currently making rounds online, adds multi-platinum rapper Lil Wayne to the line up.

With the year in music just a few weeks away from ending, I'm already prepared to issue an award in a category I just invented -- most unique tour by a Madison band.
For a lot of local bands, playing gigs beyond the state line is a logistical challenge. This year, Natty Nation not only crossed the Badger border, they took their "positive message" songs across the globe. This reggae-rock band spent most of November touring Africa and Asia to play music for U.S. troops.
Natty Nation is one of Madison's longest-standing bands. The original Natty crew began playing shows in 1995 in a small diner called the Mango Grill, located in the old University Square.
The core members of Natty Nation are Demetrius "JAH Boogie" Wainwright and Aaron "Eyes of Moses" Konkol. Last week, the two were half a world away when they emailed joint responses about their interactions with the troops, world reaction to the election of Barack Obama, their new album and their homecoming show this weekend.
When and how did the idea to play for American troops in Africa and Asia originate?
Our manager got a phone call in early August from a Department of Defense agency called Armed Forces Entertainment. Captain Ogilvie, the contact, said that his circuit received a lot of requests for good reggae. He searched music websites and found our press kit, liked what he read and what he heard, and contacted us. We immediately wanted to say yes, but we figured we should digest the terms and discuss it with our families. Thankfully we were able to do it!

MANY OF the ladies who turned out on Tuesday evening were dolled up to show their assets to best advantage, while the Sting and Monster Energy Drink ladies let it all hang out. There were cheers as Ninja Man let Shabba and Supercat have it, Bounty Killer stormed on stage with 'peoooopleee dead!' and Mavado and Vybz Kartel appeared side by side - all on the big screen.

The capacity crowd at the Talk of the Town, Jamaica Pegasus Hotel, New Kingston, whooped - and it was only the launch of Sting's 25th anniversary, dubbed 'The Final Frontier, the Settlement of all Argument'.

Jamaica's Director of Public Prosecutions - Paula Llewellyn - has ruled that three policemen are to be charged for the August 23, 2008 shooting death of dancehall deejay Spragga Benz's teenage son - Carlton Grant Junior.
All the policemen are attached to the Kingston Central Police Station. Two are to be charged with murder, while the third will face a charge of assault.

Tuesday November 11- Kingston Jamaica:-The success and popularity of dancehall music has without question provided opportunities for many Jamaicans who have and are trying to establish themselves in the field. Recognizing this, Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall has returned and will kick off its second season Saturday, November 15, in Montego Bay at the Wexford Court Hotel.
The competition's second season, which was launched on Monday November 10, will see a total of five auditions across the island with the first being in Montego Bay, the competition will move over to May Pen, then through Portmore, Ocho Rios and will make a final stop in Kingston. At each stop persons going up for audition will perform for judges Ms. Kitty, General Degree and Scatta with the hope of getting a call back slip for the next round. This process will continue for the four remaining audition stops. From these auditions, 20 contestants will advance to the TV round, 10 princes and 10 princesses who will compete for the top title of Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall.

Miriam Zenzi Makeba was born in Johannesburg in 1932. Her mother was a Swazi sangoma and her father, who died when she was six, was a Xhosa. As a child, she sang at the Kilmerton Training Institute in Pretoria, which she attended for eight years.
Makeba first toured with an amateur group. Her professional career began in the 1950s with the Manhattan Brothers, before she formed her own group, The Skylarks, singing a blend of jazz and traditional melodies of South Africa.
