THE GRACE TROPICAL Rhythms Port Royal Seafood festival will take place on Sunday, December 7.

Member of Parliament for East Kingston and Port Royal, Phillip Paulwell, said despite the festival being absent for two years, plans have been made for this year's event to be spectacular.

"I am delighted to welcome you here, and also am delighted to have a seafood partner. We did not have the Seafood festival for two years, but this year we are looking for a spectacular treat," said Paulwell, who delivered the welcoming address.

Tremendous event

"And looking at the programme, I can say that indeed it will be a tremendous event. So my message to you here is to come, come out with your family and friends and enjoy the evening," Paulwell said.

Gospel artiste, Teena Tamara gave the patrons a preview of what the festival will be like, as she warmed their hearts with a cover version of Fantasia's I Believe, as well as two original songs, I'm Good, I'm Good, and In The Valley.

Rich seafood history

The dance moves that Dancing Dynamite's Venom Squad and Unlimited Dancer chalked up from Elephant Man's Nuh Linga and Sweep were also impressive.

The festival, which will be held at the Port Royal football field, will feature Tarrus Riley, Etana, Ernie Smith, and Gospel artistes Goddy Goddy, and Teena Tamara.

According to the event's producer Jennifer Small, the aim of the festival is to highlight Port Royal's rich seafood history.

"When you talk about seafood and festival Port Royal is the place. I mean it is going to be a wonderful event, and I'm so glad that everyone turned out tonight," Small said.

The main feature will be the Grace Jack Mackerel Seafood cook-off between celebrities Macka Diamond, Oral Tracey, Cameal Davis, and Jermaine Brown.

Competition

Rising Star's K'Alee, Marvin Fishley, who won the 2007 Tastee Talent Trial concert, and Heather Grant are also booked to perform.

There will also be a domino competition and the winning team will walk away with $30,000 cash courtesy of Cement Company. There will also be rides and games for the children.

Tickets are children $200, and adults $500. Gates open at 11 am.
