Hundreds of University of the West Indies (UWI) students and other visitors turned up this evening, as the 'The Teacha', Vybz Kartel, 'lectured' as a guest of the Department of Literatures in English and the Centre for Gender and Development Studies at the University of the West Indies. The topic - 'Pretty Like a Colouring Book: My Life and My Art'. Below we've featured amateur video footage of Vybz Kartel's presentation at UWI.

2011 EME Awards - March 12, 2011

The 7th annual staging of the Excellence in Music & Entertainment (EME) Awards is set to take place on Saturday March 12, 2011 on the East Lawns of the historical Devon House, 26 Hope Road in Kingston. Hosted by Jamaican/American comedian Rayzor and featuring appearances by American rappers Eve and Trina, the show will also feature special guest performances from Bounty Killer, Lady Saw, Jah Cure, Elephant Man, Etana, Wayne Wonder, Tifa, Nomaddz, Toya, Dubtonic Kru and others.

2011 EME Awards - March 12, 2011

As with previous years, the 2011 EME Awards will recognize the top performers in Jamaica's recording industry. Awards will be handed out in approximately 30 categories including Deejay of the Year, Best New Artiste, Song of the Year, Vocalist of the year, Producer of the year, among others. Winners will be determined based on their performance on The Weekly Jamaica Music Countdown (Charts), votes via texts, and votes at emeawards.com.

American Idol contestant Naima Adedapo surprised the judges and audience on last night's episode of the popular music reality TV show, by injecting a dancehall-style deejay segment into the song she was singing, Rihanna's "Umbrella." At the end of her performance, Adedapo also extolled the virtues of Rastafari, apparently her chosen faith. Check out the video of her performance below

Jennifer Lopez Falls at American Music Awards

NEW YORK, Oct. 26 /PRNewswire/ -- New York natives JAY-Z and Alicia Keys, two of the most successful recording artists in the world, will perform their hit single "Empire State Of Mind," from JAY-Z's #1 album The Blueprint 3, on the field at Yankee Stadium prior to Game One of the 2009 World Series on Wednesday, October 28. Following their joint performance, Keys will sing the national anthem.

Both performances will air on FOX, which begins its World Series coverage of the New York Yankees against the defending champion Philadelphia Phillies at 7:30 p.m. Eastern. An avid Yankee fan, JAY-Z has worn a Yankee cap in music videos, magazine photo shoots, and on album covers.
